AGS Update: Handicap Formula Options
Sent Friday, October 16, 2026

AGS Support Emails will be accessible on the Home Page by Date

Hello AGS Customers,

New: Course Handicap Choice

Go to Club Administration to change.

Choices:

  • Index × (Slope / 113) — default choice
  • Index × (Slope / 113) + (Course Rating − Par) — new, popular since 2020

The new choice requires tees to have Par and Rating. You can also now delete tees to reduce Course Handicap clutter on Club Listings: in Add or Edit Course(s), check Remove next to a set of tees. Tees with posted scores are hidden instead of deleted.

Other things you can do under Club Administration

  1. Change your Club Name
  2. Add Administrators to help share the workload
  3. Delete Golfers, Courses and Administrators you no longer need
  4. Set your Home Course and Default Group
  5. Publish your Club Listing online

Configure Handicap Formulas

Can be found under Administration Tasks on your Home Page.

What you can do with it:

  • Create your own formulas. Set how many recent rounds count, how many of the best scores are used, the multiplier, the rounding adjustment, and the maximum handicap for men and women.
  • Use Simple Mode if your league prefers handicaps based on score minus par instead of the standard differential formula.
  • Apply a formula to your whole club, or to a single group. For example, one formula for your Tuesday league and another for everyone else. Handicaps are recalculated right away.
  • Your current handicaps stay the same until you change them. The built-in Legacy Formula remains the default and can't be edited, so you can experiment safely.

Add courses from our National Golf Course Database

You don't need to type in course and tee data yourself. Copy any course from our national database into your club in two ways:

  • Home Page: under Administration Tasks, tap Search Our National Golf Course Database.
  • Tournament setup: while choosing a course for a round, tap Search National Database, pick the state and course, then Copy and Use this Course.

If a course's ratings, slopes or tees have changed, or a course you need isn't listed, email us at support@americangolfsystem.com. We'll update the national database so your club and everyone else can copy the current version.

As always, email support@americangolfsystem.com anytime with questions or suggestions.
